Developing Your Psychic Abilities

 

Last night I taught my second Intuitive Development class in two weeks. I hadn’t taught psychic development for awhile so I decided to begin with a meditation and breathwork before getting into the psychic exercises .This is usually the best place to start so that everyone gets settled inside themselves before the real psychic work begins. After we began the psychic portion of class,  I enjoyed watching students as they connected to people, places and things through their psychic senses. You could tell by seeing everyone’s facial expressions that this was a new playground. With their eyes closed, I could see students shifting around in their bodies as they connected with each object. Imagine using your normal five senses and then extend your senses out a little bit more. I asked everyone to hold the image of an orange or a grape in their mind’s eye and experience it through each of their psychic senses known as the “clairs”. Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairsentience, Clairgustafson, and Clairolfactory, which means clear seeing, clearing hearing, clear feeling, clear tasting and clear smelling. Each person has a unique combination of several of the different clairs. Usually one of the clairs is stronger than the others. We receive psychic information through the” clairs.”

Because it’s too stimulating for a sensitive person, psychics can’t walk around in everyday life with their psychic senses open all the time. As you can imagine, it’s overwhelming when their is an over abundance of audio, visual and sensory information. Psychics have to shut it down. Developing your psychic skills is something that has to be done gradually so the body can tolerate a higher level of sensitivity. As a result of watching students awaken their sixth-sensory selves last night, I came away with a new appreciation for why meditation and breath work is so important when you are working with your psychic abilities. They strengthen the mind-body to be able to handle the increased sensitivity. It’s imperative that any student of psychic arts, who is serious about learning these skills, has a daily meditation or breathwork technique.

Ten Ways to Cultivate Your Intuition

Here are my top ten tips for improving your intuition. What you learn working with your higher sense perception will surprise and delight you! Get ready to make the best possible decisions! You’ll experience the benefits of working your intuitive muscle with practice. Here we go! 1.Create quiet in your life. Set strong boundaries. Ask the people around you for more space. Try to meditate for 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, once a day, then twice a day. Whatever you can do – gradually quiet your mind. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE PERFECT AT THIS! 3.Walk in nature. Do a walking meditation. 4.Imagine yourself as a tree when you’re frazzled. Send your tree roots deep into the ground and anchor yourself. Breathe. 5.Pay attention to your breath. When you notice your mind racing or note your thoughts are really intense, take deep breaths all the way down into the diaphragm. Slow rhythmic breathing. Take at least 7 really deep breaths. 6.After you’ve taken several deep breaths, get quiet and ask yourself a simple question, “What do I need to know right now?” Be open and wait for an answer. 7.Document your intuitions and insights in a journal. Make note of the date and other details. Note in your journal when your intutions have been validated. . 8.Think of a question you’d like an answer to or think of a decision you have to make. Ask for a clear sign regarding the right answer. Look for synchronicities. 9.Get a set of Doreen Virtue Angel Cards. There are many different decks. Pick an oracle card for each day. Or, ask a question and pull one card for an answer. 10.Have fun with your intuition. Ask for more information if you need it after you get an intuitive hit.

The Enemy of Intuition Is Anxiety

The biggest problem that inhibits the healthy functioning of your intuition and psychic ability is anxiety.. There are several reasons why anxiety has a negative effect on intuition. When someone is psychically sensitive and encouraged to use his or her intuition, they learn to trust it and become adept at using psychic ability. If that same person were discouraged or ridiculed, and experiencied negative consequences after displaying psychic ability, it conditions him or her to be anxious or shut down whenever they use or have a need to use their intuition.

Why does anxiety suppress intuition? When you’re anxious, you lose confidence and have more self-doubt. If you get discouraged and lose confidence with your intuition, you start shutting down that area in the right brain. Without having the right brain providing input such as “this feels right to me” or “this sounds right to me,” there’s no sensory input to provide a counter balance to your left brain, and your thoughts.

Another example of why anxiety suppresses intuition is when you have irrational fears. Irrational fears corrupt not only your intuition, but can also negatively affect your thinking and your decision-making. Examples of irrational fears are; a fear of making a mistake, a fear of negative consequences, or a fear of looking foolish.

If you want to manage your anxiety so you can improve your intuition and psychic ability – here are several exercises you can do when you’re feeling anxious. Take slow deep breaths all the way down into the diaphragm. After you take ten slow deep breaths, check in to see if your mind is calmer. Repeat as many sets of ten deep breaths as necessary. Check in to see how calm your mind is after each repetition. Another way to still your anxiety is to focus on the toes and the bottom of the feet. Imagine being on the bottom of each toe and then the top of each toe. Then the underside of the foot, the ball of the foot, under the instep, the heel, and the ankle. Work your way up the body. Stop when you reach the top of the head.

It’s risky to use your intuition when you’re stressed. Your intuition works best when you’re relaxed and centered in your body. Unfortunately, sometimes when we’re anxious, we’re not even aware that we’re stressing. Taking slow deep breaths when you’re anxious can help you to return to a high functioning intuitive state.
